Burnside Open Space Strategy

  • Location: City of Burnside, SA
  • Project: Open Space Planning
  • Client: The City of Burnside
  • Completion: Current

Details:
The Burnside Open Space Strategy is a comprehensive study of the open space needs and future demands within the City of Burnside. Using site assessment, GIS analysis and extensive community consultations a detail Action Plan was developed that specifically targets the issues and opportunities that exist within the City.

Special attention was given to hills face reserves, creek lines and waterways, future population needs and the potential for carbon offset through open space management.

The Action Plan is designed to operate in conjunction with an Open Space Matrix, which identifies priority works for individual parks and reserves and is linked to the Council’s GIS data base. These documents provide a complete framework for the development and management of open space over the next 10 years.

The Open Space Strategy is both strategic and specific. The strategy will guide Council in future decision making processes, as well as being a working document that will influence future resourcing. The Open Space Strategy is a significant planning and management tool that will continue to evolve to meet the changing needs and priorities of the City.
