WAX Design working with JPE and Tonkins were engaged to undertake the detail design and implementation of the Walkerville Terrace Upgrade. The completion of the project has created a vibrant public realm that combines contemporary urban design features with the historic charm the town's heritage buildings.

Mature street trees and drought tolerant planting creates a strong landscape setting, while seating walls, street furniture and lighting provides additional amenity. The use of brick paving reflects the heritage character of the street, with paving combinations highlighting different aspects. The introduction of water sensitive urban design initiatives and soil vaults to optimise tree growth demonstrates both the consultant's and Council's commitment to environmental sustainability within the urban realm.
